Retail Therapy

Retail therapy FTW.

I love the end of financial year! That's when everything is on sale!
I bought these three arm accessories for only $10!

Awesome "leather" strap

Chunky black bangle and a purple one with a holographic peacock feather imprint!

I totally heart this one! I think the peacock feather is really gorgeous!

After restricting myself from shopping for a couple weeks, it feels extremely good to hit the stores again! To top it all, I found awesome buys at bargain prices! *fist pump into the air* W00ts!

Too bad it's winter, I can't really show them off when I'm wearing heavy coats and jackets! Bugger.

Oh wells! Only two months to go before Spring arrives! :D
Yayness!

Misfits

Vandalism! Rawwwrgghhh! >=(

This incident actually took place on Wednesday, 24th June, but still.. Arrwgghh!!
It makes me mad when I think about it.

As some of you may know, Josh works in a golf resort in Melbourne. I received a text from him saying that they had just caught three high school students vandalizing the golf course and were waiting for the police to arrive.

It turns out they had hijacked a golf cart and sped through the course, as detailed in this diagram below (which was done by Josh btw, I thought it was cute. Hehe!)

Basically, they drove the cart around (1 and 2) and tried to "fly" over some grass bunkers (3 and 4). In doing so, they broke a wheel (5) and drove it towards the tee off area where they ditched the cart (6). They also abused a golf flag by snapping it in half.

Poor broken cart. One of its wheel's damaged, and the windscreen has been taken apart.

Damaged flag pole

Fortunately, one of Josh's co-workers noticed the missing cart and went on a hunt for it. He caught the boys red-handed and dragged them into the office.

One of them was already in trouble for stealing and destroying golf flags on a number of prior occasions. He was supposed to be accompanied by his principal that very day to apologize but instead, he played truant, took his two buddies along to do more damage to the golf course.

Seriously! What an idiot!

The boys' school is located next to the golf course so it was an easy target for those troublemakers. Unfortunately, there are more misfits where they came from. I think the boys named names. So the police informed all of their parents, then threatened to put the kids in a slammer for a night or two. Too bad, they didn't.

Their principal and some of the parents called to apologize, and asked what they could do. Apparently one of the boys will be made to help fix the damages.

Unfortunately it didn't end too well because on their way back to school, they managed to snap off another flag.

*rolls up sleeves and waves angry fist in the air*

OoooooOOOO!! >=(
Those boys aren't going to learn, are they? I'm only afraid that they'll just come back and do even more damage than before.

Bugger. Let's hope they'll get their just deserts soon! >=(

The Man in the Mirror

For starters, I woke at 7.20 am from a terrifying nightmare. Then I found out that Michael Jackson passed away.

:(

I was born in the late 80s, so MJ was already white when I came to know of him. I was never really a big fan but I certainly have my fair share of MJ music and videos!

I particularly remember 'Black or White'. I laughed when Macauley Culkin plugged in his guitar, turned the volume knob to 'Are you Insane?' (or something to that effect) then blasted his "dad" out of the room to Africa(?). Also, the face morphing of the people starring in the music videos really stuck with me. I thought it was really, really, really cool.

My parents liked him but did think he was weird. I believed that he was eccentric as well, but I guess he's probably just misunderstood. I remember watching his clips and music videos, and never did understand why masses of people cried or fainted during his concerts.
No one does that anymore. I guess it's not cool to do that nowadays. Wait.. do kids still use the word 'cool'?

Michael came to Brunei in 1996 (I was 9) for a concert. I remember my family and I heading up to the city, to Jerudong Park to watch him perform. Unfortunately, we couldn't get into the concert area due to the large crowds so we had to watch his performance on a massive TV screen instead.

Since he loves amusement rides, Michael went on several of the rides in Jerudong while he was there for his concert. I recall seeing Michael Jackson only a few metres in front of me. He and his family had gotten off the water log ride and was in a golf cart. There were body guards everywhere. There was a buzz of excitement as everyone gathered around trying to get a glimpse of him.
I just stood there in awe.

But the cool thing was my mom who managed to sneak through security and walked up to Michael Jackson while he was in the cart. The cart wasn't going anywhere because of the large crowds so my mom grabbed the opportunity. She extended her hand towards him. He looked a litte surprised but naturally, could not refuse to shake the hands of a fan. My mom quickly thanked him and made her way back into the crowds.

I have no idea how she did it.

My mom sometimes can do the most unpredictable things. But I'm glad she did. How many people can say, "My mom shook hands with Michael Jackson"??

Funnily, not many people believe me so I stopped telling people.

Although I'm not a massive fan, I think he's incredibly talented and is a musical genius. I suppose his music did have some influence on my life. The 'Earth Song' had quite an affect on me; I was only a child then but it made me aware of how we were destroying the earth with our greed. I remember singing 'Heal the world' on karaoke at my cousin's place.

Thinking back of these fond memories really sadden me. The world will be mourning for the loss of a legend.

May you rest in peace, Michael.

Melon Candy

:D

So.

I was in this Korean store with Josh, paying for our purchases when I noticed a box of cute brightly-coloured candies shaped in hearts, fruits, etc on the counter.

I instinctively pointed out a cute candy to Josh, "Ahhhh! A watermelon candy! How cute!!!"

The Korean man behind the register looked up upon hearing me and promptly handed me the watermelon candy!

I was actually quite embarrassed when I realized he was giving it to me for free. But he misread the expression on my face and thought I wanted a different candy, so gestured for me to pick another one. I quickly declined and thanked him several times for the sweet.

After we paid for our goods, he then gave Josh two small mandarin oranges. Maybe he didn't want Josh to feel left out for not getting anything. Hehehe!

Josh couldn't help laughing and teasing me because he said that the man must have assumed that I was just a kid by the instantaneous delighted reaction to candies.

Hey! Laugh all you want.. I may be a kid but I'm a kid with a glossy red watermelon candy! *prances*

Yay!

And truth to be told, I don't actually like candies that much. But I am always tempted to get them because they're glossy and so pretty!

Stepping Stones

Most days I just wake up and feel..... blah.

It's too early, it's too cold and my bed's just too comfy to get out of.

By the time I'm out of bed, I'm already feeling guilty about the lost time that have could been used for more productive things.

I'm beginning to find it a hard habit to break out of. I'd always tell myself that I'd go to bed earlier and wake up earlier; you know... fix the body clock but it never happens.
Occasionally I do manage to wake up early but after an hour or so of being sleepy and cold, I just dive back under the warm covers of my quilt.

At night, I have a hard time falling asleep because I'm constantly thinking about my fears. I have dreams every night; mostly vivid, strange and sometimes terrifying dreams that leave me drained and perplexed in the morning. When the alarm rings, my body refuses to get out of bed, simply because sleep is a great way to escape the dreadful reality. Ignorance is bliss. And when I do get out, I'm sluggish and groggy for the next two - three hours.

I used to be a morning person. Back in high school, I would wake up 5 am and ready to take on the world. However, back then I didn't have much to stress about.

Now, I often lose touch with myself. Drowning myself in deep thoughts each day; constantly worrying whether I would get a good job and wondering when my Australian Permanent Residency application will be approved. I feel as if I am trapped in a cell, pacing back and forth, staring at the shut door, half-hoping that it would open so I do not have to wait any longer and yet half-dreading that when it opens, it's really just being slammed in my face.

I keep telling myself that things will get better; especially once my PR is approved. I've heard stories from friends that they were only able to get a job after they've obtained their residency. However, I am well aware that things don't just fall into place nicely just because I've gotten my PR. I will still have to struggle with the many obstacles of life, just as I am now.

Whenever I think it's all too much, I go outside and sit in a park somewhere. In reality, it's all just happening in my head. It's really not all that bad. So yes, I am anxious about the results of my application and I am worried about getting a job, but I should not forget to live life.

I should stop thinking that my 'real' life will begin once I get my PR and a job, and that things will be better and more exciting once that happens, because I am living life now and life is really what you make it to be.
