25

O hai! I have returned!!

Sorry, I was away on a week-long business trip in Shanghai and Hong Kong ;)

It was fourth time to HK, but first time I've visited China.
Shanghai was great! I thoroughly enjoyed myself because the staff in Shanghai were ace!!
I miss them already! :(

Anyway, you don't really want to hear me talk about work! I'm sure you want to see my shopping haul!

Makeup did cost me a fair bit but still MUCH cheaper than if I purchased them in Australia!
Majolica Majorca mascara was half price at AU$15!!

These were less than AU$2 each!

I love crowns!

Love these bags! They both cost less me than AU$60!

 Anyway, guess who turned 25?!

Unfortunately I had to leave for my conference the day after my birthday, but it didn't matter. I spent it with my Joshy ♥

Hmm.. actually when I think about it, I met him when I was 20
So in a month and a half's time, we will be celebrating our 5th year anniversary together.

Ah... life is good ;)

Chocolate Lava Cake

I will need to learn how to make this!

I may even be able to win Prince William's heart with this sacrilegious chocolate lava cake.
'Kate who?' he'll say.

Delectable moist chocolate cake

Warm chocolate fudge oozing out

It must be sinful to taste this good!

It must be winter. My primitive instinct is telling me to fatten up.

Bugger.

30 days of health? Fail.

Alright. I didn't exactly fail. With only a week to go, I'd say I'm doing pretty well :)

I see improvement in my fitness, skin and hair plus I think I've lost a kilo already!
Woo hoo!

I wasn't exactly a good girl for the past 3 weeks as I had Domino's pizza and their chocolate lava cake!!! Oooooo... just thinking about the chocolate lava cake makes me salivate!

I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to go out and buy some sort of chocolate fudge! Since the oven doesn't work and I've got an irrational fear of them... so I went and got Betty Crocker's 'No Bake Decadent Chocolate Fudge'!! Woots!

So pretty!

The ingredients and cookware

Looks like any chocolate powder..

Add in 1 tablespoon butter and 1/4 cup full cream milk

Microwave on high for a minute

Mix it before microwaving for an additional minute

Stir until smooth and oh.. so... sexy...

Pour into baking tray quickly before the fudge begins to solidify.
Place the tray into the fridge for at least 1 hour or till firm.

You don't need to guess what happened to the remaining scrapes of fudge.

Heh :)

Happy Easter!

Am so looking forward to a chocolate-filled Easter weekend! W00ts!!!

I managed to get Seng Kheng to buy me this massive chocolate Easter egg!

I measured and it's about 24cm high! AWESOMOUS!

It was a wee bit pricey so SK told me not to eat it. Me thinks he wants me to vacuum pack it so it'll last forever.

It does have an expiry date though; sometime this June!
If I vacuum pack it, will it be safe to eat after the expiry date??

Oooo but I don't know whether I can actually wait.. I feel like eating it already!
Narf narf narf!!!
Let hope I don't overdose on chocolate. But then again, is there such thing as too much chocolate? HO HO HO HO HO!!

Have a safe, fun and totally awesomous Easter everyone!

Old men and food

So I was walking along, enjoying the sounds pumping from my mp3 player when I spotted this old man with a receeding hairline and white hair, outside of his barber shop.

He was looking up at a threatening gray sky but as I approached him, he noticed me.
He bid me good day with a slow smile. "Come, come," he mumbled as he beckoned me to follow him.

Puzzled, I stopped and watched him enter his barber shop and fumbled for something on a desk near the door. At one point, I was beginning to worry. Was he going to stab me? (There have been recent three cases of stabbing going on in Adelaide, so you should forgive me for thinking that.)

With a big smile, he pulled out a massive bundle of what looked like baby apricots?!!

Eh? (O__o)

I was horrified as he shoved them to me, "Take, take!"

"No, I can't that's too much!" I said, thinking about how I was going to go shopping with all these fruit in my hands. There wasn't even a bag!

He nodded and started peeling away the branches and leaves, "Take, take."

-___________-

So I thanked him and went my way, trying not to drop any from my two hands.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what they are (or if they are edible for that matter) or how I was going shopping.

So I threw them away in the end.
I don't mean to be disrespectful but I had to go shopping and carrying some books back home. There was just no way I could do that with them fruits in me hands.

I just wonder why I encounter such things?
Probably a year ago, this old man handed me a pumpkin.
It ended up in my tummy :)

Perhaps I look starved?

Meet Mr. Pumpkin

As weird as it may sound, this old guy that I've met while waiting for the bus gave me a pumpkin!!

:D

Yes. Weird and in a way freaky.

But you haven't heard everything yet!

Slthough it was bright and sunny day yesterday, I was rather down. Blame PMS.
To top that I was late for my group meeting for this scientific poster we had to make.
I stood there waiting for the bus for like 15 minutes but there was no sign of it.

Then this old dude with a long white beard came along, carrying two bags.
He looked at the bus stand then at me before asking, "Have you been waiting for long?"

I wasn't really up for a chat but said yes and that it was late.

Anyway, he didn't seem to notice the foul mood I was in and started chatting away.

There was something about this old man that was a little different.
He had a sparkle in his eye. Like how you'd expect Santa Claus to have.

Before I knew it, I was actually enjoying having a conversation with this man.
I learnt that he loves nature, art, growing things and enjoys writing poetry. He must have been a hippie back in his day because he just seemed like one!!

Halfway through our conversation, he stuck his hand out and went, "I'm Marcus."
He was quite a charming fellow. In fact, he has a lady friend who wants him to marry her!!
Apparently she's like ten years younger than he is and . . . he's 65!!

Mind-boogling! My grandma's only a couple years older and she's so frail and nearly bed-ridden.

This is some random hippie picture I found while googling but he looks somewhat like the old geezer. Isn't the old lady cute? xD

Finally the bus came and we got on. Before he got off to meet his friend for coffee, he asked me meet him in a cafe near the art gallery next Friday at 11. He said that if he wasn't there by 11, then he couldn't make it and he'll come the following Friday. Then he reached ito his bag and gave me one of the pumpkins he grew :)

Talking to him made me realize how money driven everyone else was and how caught up we all can get in our lives that we don't see how simple and beautiful things really are.

He was so cheery and lovely that just the thought of him makes me smile. I know you all think I must be crazy but I don't mind meeting up with him.
I do have a feeling that he might have forgotten me by then though.
But if he does, it doesn't matter either :)

Let's see how it goes, shall we?

I had no idea what to do with the pumpkin but when I got to uni with a pumpkin in my hand, everyone was like, "What on earth is that?" and some people started telling me how to cook it.
Others say it looks really odd. One person said it was the oddest shaped pumpkin he's seen. HAHAHAA!!

. . and I must agree XD

But look what I did to it!

Looks pretty good, no? ;)
And it tasted great too!!

Korean fish ice cream

I have been eyeing this fish-shaped ice cream ever since I stepped into this Korean store in Chinatown. Apparently it has red beans and vanilla ice cream.

So I bought it!! It's only $1.80

And I sort of forgot about it and left it on the counter.. and it sorta melted
