Cute D.I.Y Dripping Nails Tutorial

Merry Christmas everyone! ;)

Just a quick post today! Since my dripping nails drew a bit of attention, I wanted to show you how you can re-create it without any tools whatsoever.

So basically you'd need to select two colours; one as a base, and the other to create dripping tips.

Here I'm using Rimmel's Mocha Fever which is a gorgeous rich colour with tiny flecks of glitter embedded to give it an extra dimension, and Rimmel's London Clours as my "snow/vanilla" drips.

Step 1: Start with your base colour.
This is how it looks with two coats of Mocha Fever.

Step 2: Using your second lacquer, draw downwards (to the tip of your nails) on either sides of the nail. Best to have drips of varying heights and always start from 1/3 or 1/4 from the tip of your nails.

Step 3: Connect the drips by going over the tips of your nails. Don't worry if it's messy. It's supposed to look that way.

Finish with a top coat and you're done! ;)

I hope everyone's having a great safe Christmas.
Spotted this cute car yesterday!! :3

Happy holidays!!

Aussie Blogger Kris Kringle ♥

So I participated in an Aussie Kris Kringle for bloggers recently. At first I was kicking myself because I always get a little stressed when I have to get something for someone I don't really know, but after going through my Kris Kringle's blog, I kinda had an idea of the things to get her :3

I will reveal to you who I got at the end of this blog entry ;)

Anyway!! My Kris Kringle arrived a couple days ago and I found that it was the awesome Jen from QuestJen!!

I felt like she really made a lot of effort into putting my pressie together.I got some nail items; lace nail deco and a nail polish, plus an eyeliner, makeup palette (I know right!!) and a L'occitane hand cream sample.

I even got a card from her!! I didn't send one to mine +___+
Jen wrote such sweet things in the card, made me feel warm and fuzzy inside :)

I was so pleasantly surprised to find a makeup palette inside. Very useable colours! Love it!

So sparkly and pigmented! I used it immediately!

To create this!
Looks so yummy huh??

I loveeeee nail lace designs! Thank you so much!!

I got such great items that I felt ashamed of the things I purchased for my chosen kris kringle, Teresa from [clicky here to pop over and have a look see ;)].
Fortunately for me, she seemed to like the items :)

In all, it was a very good experience because I had never participated in blogger activities/events. It was good fun and I'm glad to be introduced to new bloggers.

Can't wait for next year!!! :D

Day at the Caulfield Races

I had such a great time with my colleagues at the Caulfield Races for a small Christmas event. Unfortunately at least half of the staff were not able to turn up due to commitments, but it didn't really matter as we all thoroughly enjoyed our time at the race course.

Due to respect for my colleagues' privacy, I am censoring their faces. Fortunately I managed to find some adorable photoshop brushes to mask their true identities with cuteness.

In the end I decided on the first dress cause it was such a beautiful bright colour! It was also much more elegant-looking than the other dress.

As some of you may know, the races are usually formal events where participants must adhere to a strict dress code. Women are highly encouraged to wear hats or fascinators.

We just stuck flowers into our hair but as you can see in the last photo on the right, one of my colleagues actually used a fascinator! :D

For most of us, it was our first time at the races so it was pretty exciting. We all tried to have a go at betting on some horses. I did win some but not enough to recover my losses; I think in all, I must have lost around $25 which isn't a lot! It's all for a bit of fun ;)

It was a great experience and certainly one of which I will not easily forget.

Hope everyone's had a good weekend too!! ♥

Outfit: This or that?

So the locum doctor who works in our clinic is going to my colleagues and I to Summer Race Day held at the Caulfield race course on Saturday, 3rd December 2011.

What do you think I should wear?

I'm thinking of going with dress no.1 but I then found out that the race supports Cystic Fibrosis Victoria. In order to promote CF awareness, attendees are encouraged to use the colour red or wear a red rose.

I don't necessarily have to but it would be nice, wouldn't it?

Hope everyone's having a good weekend ;)

REVIEW: L'oreal Color Riche Lipstick

Why... hello there!

Yes, yes. It's been ages.

I apologize.

Since I know you will forgive me (otherwise you wouldn't be reading this) I am not going to bore you with my excuses.

Since summer is almost here (and Melbourne is finally get some warm weather), I am experimenting with corals!

Now, I am not a big lipstick person but since using Maybelline's Moisture Extreme lipstick, I've been converted. Till then, I have always thought lipsticks were dry and draggy. (Unfortunately, it's been discontinued! How sad!!!!! T__T)

Anyho, I went hunting for a bright coral lipstick and found it in L'oreal's Color Riche lipstick in "Magnetic Coral"

True to its name, L'Oreal's Color Riche is highly-pigmented.

One swatch on the left and two swatches on the right. Very opaque.

The lipstick contains gold flecks to give the rich color some dimension.

To be honest, I am not particularly a fan of shimmer in lipstick but I am not bothered by it as this lipstick gives me is one of the richest color I've seen.

Now I did say that I don't tend to use lipstick, let alone one that is vibrant. This lipstick is so opaque that I actually dab off any excess for fear of scaring children and old biddies who frequent the clinic I work in. Despite this, I am able to retain the vibrancy and am actually enjoying the striking color on my lips for a change and have received compliments.

This is how it would look on my lips: prepped with lipbalm, swiped with color riche and had the excess dabbed off.

Unfortunately, L'oreal Color Riche lipstick is not moisturizing. I usually dab on some lipbalm/gloss prior so that the lipstick will glide. If I fail to do so, then I find it coarse and draggy; perhaps this is due to the gold flecks embedded?

The packaging is very attractive in its light rose gold case. Sadly, it will start to look a little dull after much use.

Nonetheless, it is a decent lipstick that will give me the bright summery lips I am looking for! ♥

Now, since I've been gone for so long, I think you all deserve a photo to remind you how cute I am!

Thank you so much for reading! ♥

Sunday, August 28, 2011

Hey guys,

I apologize for the lack of updates. August has been an insane month so far.

I did have some good news career-wise so I was very excited.

Unfortunately it's been short-lived as it was quickly followed by a series of bad news affecting people I know and love.
All I can do now is try to focus on the silver lining and hope for the best.

I am staying positive because there are certain aspects of the situation which are in my control so I can do my best to change the outcome of what appears to be bleak.

I apologize but I may be MIA for a fair bit as I do need to channel a lot of my attention and energy into fixing this problem. I hope this won't be the case and I will be resurface sooner than I think.

I am keeping positive so don't worry about me ;)
I hope everyone's been well.

Index Fundraising

My friends Fiona and Ting are 4th year RMIT students hoping to raise enough funds to open an exhibition for their final year.

I am absolutely loving this Alice in wonderland inspired mustard yellow bobble ring created by Ting.
It is gorgeous!

So artsy!

I also purchased this cute love birds acrylic ring that they've created using a laser cutter!

I am loving all these cute handmade button accessories made by their team mates!

I wish I could have them ALL!!

I'm also proud to say that I assisted in a few of them! I was actually at Fi's place last weekend, helping them glue, polish and paint these accessories so they can sell them.

They usually set up stalls in their uni to try and raise funds, so they need all the help possible. If you're intrigued, just check out their facebook page or you can just ask me! ;)

Hitting the slopes

Well, at first it was quite frustrating that I was unable to control the snowboard and kept falling all over the place.

This was my face after the first day: disheartened and tired. Josh was pumped as always; he's a natural athlete so nothing could deter him.

However, on the second day, I actually managed to pick it up! I even managed to go down a beginner's trail called 'Wombat' twice, albeit a lot slower than everyone else. This man actually made three runs and noticed me on his way down the third time to ask if I was okay since I was sitting on the sides each time he passed me.

I fell a few times due to bad luck; other beginners in my way, collecting me and loss of balance but a lot of the time, I had to purposely fall because I needed to rest!!

Since I'm only able to do a 'falling leaf' down the slopes (a motion like a leaf falling down), it took a lot of energy and time. Especially for someone who hardly exercises and is naturally quite clumsy!

So I am actually very proud of myself! So is Josh! I can't wait to go back up again!!

There were plenty of beginners in our group of 14 so it was fun trying to learn together!

Moreover, our friend Perry managed to score us a breathtakingly gorgeous accommodation at Dreamers Spa!

The outside spa we didn't manage to use cause we would have to clean it out and no one wanted to do it after a long day at the slopes!!

 The magnificent interior!

The master bedroom Josh and I shared. Thanks to everyone who decided to let us sleep here ♥

The breathtaking view outside our doorstep!

It was such a great weekend.

Can't wait to go back!! ♥

When awesome meets awesome.

*drum rolls*
I present to you the awesomous Yenny and magnificent Lisha!!!!!

Feel our awesomeness!!

We met in 2006 in an online K-pop music forum. Funny thing was that we tend to post after one another saying the same thing. This may not seem like anything significant but considering the insane amount of time we used to spend on the forum during those days, it was actually quite freaky at times.
It was as though we were twins. DUM DUM DUM.

It was really great to be able to finally meet her. Cheryl has already met Yenners on three/four separate occasions. Pffft.

Anyho, she was traveling with her friend Krystal who is such a sweet person (one of the many reasons is because she would laugh at all my jokes, regardless of whether it was funny or not!)

We dined at Sushi Burger where we had a bit of a struggle trying to meet the minimum of $12 per person.

The food galore! I had the agedashi tofu and veggie tempura sushi burger, which was essentially a 'burger' using sushi rice as buns.

Most of us had the sushi burger, except for Krystal who challenged herself to a massive curry dish.

So what comes after an asian meal? Bubble tea of course!

If you haven't been to Easy Cafe, do check it out! It's an underground bubble tea place with swings for seats.
And if you were planning to have bubble tea there, do order the special bubble tea set. I forgot the name but it's one where you get a pot of milk tea, with sweetener and sago pearls in separate dishes. Essentially you get to make your own bubble tea to your liking. Do share with a friend as it is way too much for one.

We were planned to hang out at Cheryl's crib so we ordered bubble tea to go. While waiting for our bubble tea to be made, we camwhored.

Upper right: Cheryl with her Ga-In impression

Gorgeous view from Cheryl's.

Before we knew it, we had to part.

We had a lot of fun! It was great meeting you girls! Come back to Melbourne soon!!

Bundle Monster Konad Nail Plate Review (21 piece set)

Check this out!!

Oh yeah.. pretty awesome right? I purchased the 21 piece Bundle Monster Konad image plate set from Amazon for about US$18 not too long ago cause I wanted to experiment with more Konad nail designs.

It was my first time purchasing off Amazon and it was really easy! Postage didn't cost much either, approx. US$4 and it took about a week or so to arrive.

The Bundle Monster set is a cheap knockoff of the Konad plate set. I thought they would be filmsy metal plates but they are actually as good as a genuine Konad plate!

There is a thin blue plastic film protecting each plate which is easily removed.

Each image plate has a unique number on it, just like a konad plate.

Each plate also has 6 - 7 designs, just like a Konad plate .

I have used 5 plates without encountering any problems so far but upon closer inspection of all the other plates, I did notice a slight inconsistency in one pattern. However, I'm not bothered by it because it's hardly noticeable once you stamp the design onto your nails.

This set is a partial set, which includes the BM1 - BM21 image plates.
Personally, there will be some designs of this particular set that I doubt I would ever use but I still enjoy having a variety of choices.

Now, I don't actually own a full Konad image plate set so I can't exactly compare but looking at some samples online, there will be a lot of designs I probably won't use either.

click on the photo to enlarge!
In all, I'm really satisfied with my purchase *prances*

And in anticipation of my upcoming snow trip in Falls Creek, I've created cute wintery snowflake nails.

Uber cute? Hell yeah! :D

Can't wait to make snow angels, snowmen and have snowball fight(s)!
